Air General, a third-generation, family-owned, national cargo handling company, is seeking a Program Director, Cargo Security, who will be responsible is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive security strategies to protect air cargo operations across Air General’s entire network. This role ensures compliance with national, state, or federal laws (like TSA regulations in the U.S.). The Program Director is tasked with mitigating risks and ensuring the secure, efficient flow of freight.
Although a remote role, travel is expected to the home office, stations, and customer meetings as required. Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, update, and audit corporate cargo security programs (e.g., AOSSP) to comply with local, federal, and international regulations.
- Analyze, interpret, and implement new aviation security regulations, ensuring they are integrated into operational procedures.
- Direct and oversee cargo screening operations to ensure all cargo is properly vetted, secured, and screened for threats.
- Develop and implement security procedures for cargo handling, storage, and transport.
- Strategically procure, manage, and track 3rd party security screening vendors.
- Must have an intimate working knowledge of 49 CFR 1549 and TSA-Certified Cargo Screening Standard Security Program (CCSSSP)
- Develop, reinforce, audit, and maintain TSA-required, security program, training, and annual recertification for CCSF operation.
- Conduct security risk assessments and audits of cargo facilities and service providers to identify vulnerabilities.
- Oversee, manage, evaluate, and resolve security incidents, breaches, or anomalies.
- Lead investigations into non-compliance and prepare mitigation plans, including responses to Letters of Investigation (LOI) or civil penalties.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities (e.g., TSA, DHS), law enforcement, and security service providers.
- Collaborate with internal departments to align security requirements with business processes.
- Develop solid working relationships with station management teams, TSA, Airline security program managers, and screening equipment vendors and technicians.
- Develop and deliver training programs on cargo security awareness and procedures for staff.
- Must be able to perform in-depth review and interpret TSA-security programs, to include changes to update training appropriately and provide home office leadership with potential impact changes.

- Perform regular ad-hoc audits on security facilities, documentation, and security screening
- Prepare and present performance reports on security metrics to senior leadership.
- Analyze data to track compliance trends and security risk exposure.
Requirements:
- College Degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of airline and/or air cargo experience
- 10+ years of air cargo security experience
- Knowledge of the AOSSP and MSP
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, Google, and other related building software
- Ability and willingness to be able to travel extensively to accommodate station needs and availability
- Ability to manage multiple projects and respond to urgent requests under pressure
- Must be able to clearly understand and communicate in English when performing essential job functions
- Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings, background checks, and airport/government security background checks, applicable Custom Security Seal, and post offer drug screens
Compensation - This is a salary/exempt role. The salary will be based on current market conditions and commensurate with candidate experience. Candidates are encouraged to communicate their expectations during the recruiting and selection process.
