Position Overview
As a Licensed Pharmacist at arenaflex, you will be responsible for providing expert pharmaceutical counseling services to patients, ensuring the safe and effective use of medications, and offering preventive and clinical healthcare services. You will play a critical role in our pharmacy operations, working closely with the pharmacy team to deliver outstanding patient experiences while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices.
This position offers the opportunity to practice at the top of your license, providing clinical services such as vaccinations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. You will be a key contributor to the pharmacy's success, helping to optimize workflow, manage inventory, and enhance the overall patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Experience and Engagement
- Engage with patients warmly and proactively by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services
- Resolve patient concerns and issues promptly while responding to questions to ensure a positive patient experience
- Model and demonstrate excellent customer service best practices, delivering a distinctive and cheerful experience to every patient
- Exhibit interpersonal habits that show genuine care, including welcoming demeanor, eye contact, courtesy, and respect
- Demonstrate arenaflex service values by showing interest in identifying needs, proactively offering assistance, following up until satisfaction is achieved, and advocating for empathy and inclusivity
- Anticipate patient needs and proactively offer services to enhance their healthcare experience
- Support efforts to enhance patient experience by increasing awareness of healthcare services offered through arenaflex, including patient consultations, medication management, drug therapy reviews, and clinical services such as vaccinations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services
- Promote the evolution of the pharmacy role from transactional to relational, building lasting patient relationships
- Participate in and support events that reflect the unique communities we serve, as directed by the Pharmacy Manager, Healthcare Manager, District Director, or Pharmacy Administrator
Pharmacy Operations and Clinical Services
- Counsel patients and answer their questions regarding medication usage, side effects, drug interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generic alternatives, more affordable medications, over-the-counter products, and refer to medical providers as needed to ensure medications are taken correctly, health needs are addressed, and patients are satisfied with service
- Perform pharmacist duties including medication compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management
- Review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications when required by duty
- Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies, and standards
- Assist the pharmacy manager in establishing procedures that promote efficient pharmacy workflow, including assigning roles, scheduling activities, and soliciting colleague suggestions
- Assume responsibility for opening and closing the pharmacy and managing shift change duties
- Ensure the use of all elements of the Good Faith Dispensing policy related to state and federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions
- Maintain current knowledge of information technology related to pharmacy systems, including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, training, inventory management, and point-of-sale registers to provide support to patients and pharmacy staff
- Seek new and better ways to foster advancement and productivity
- Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve patient issues and prevent payment rejections
- Follow up with insurance companies and clinical providers and participate in third-party audits
- Follow up with clinical providers' offices to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, refills, interactions, and contraindications to recommend alternative medications and answer clinical provider questions
- Perform clinical and health services such as vaccinations, diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services
- Assist and support the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data including pharmacy financials, customer service, and policy execution for pharmacy asset protection and inventory management
- Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers
- Participate in community outreach activities to promote the pharmacy business, enhance learning opportunities, and provide happier lives through better health
- Partner with centralized support for patient enrollment, exception resolution, and assist with resolving patient issues
People and Performance Management
- Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training
- Establish the process of Pharmacy Manager in staff performance by coaching, providing constructive feedback, monitoring customer service, and encouraging colleague development
- Promote teamwork and motivate colleagues by establishing expectations, monitoring and recognizing progress, and fostering a shared vision
Training and Professional Development
- Maintain current knowledge and required licensing/credentialing/certification as established by government and state regulations to offer such clinical services
- Maintain current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy-related journals, company publications, and communications
- Maintain awareness of developments in retail and management and pursue best practices that would improve performance
- Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training, including learning modules, as required by the Company
- Seek professional development by monitoring one's own performance, requesting constructive feedback, and using the pharmacy director and manager as mentor and coach
- Support the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services or procedure information to pharmacy staff
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution
- Licensure: Current pharmacist licensure in the state(s) within the region
- Experience: Experience performing prescription dispensing activities that demonstrate strong knowledge of relevant state and federal controlled substance laws
- Certification: Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting, including prescription filling and verification, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software and technology systems, and insurance
- Strong clinical background with experience in medication therapy management
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience mentoring pharmacy team members
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with pharmacy management software and technology
- Experience with inventory management and pharmacy financials
