The Role: Data Engineer
We are seeking a talented and motivated Data Engineer to join our growing data infrastructure team at arenaflex. Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities will span a wide range of technical and collaborative tasks designed to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of our data infrastructure. Here's what you can expect:
- Pipeline Design and Development: Design, build, and manage robust data pipelines that ensure all customer event data is consistently and accurately integrated into our data warehouse. You'll create and maintain pipelines that can handle massive volumes of data in real-time, ensuring availability and performance.
- Dataset Creation and Management: Develop canonical datasets to track key product metrics, including customer growth, engagement, revenue, and other critical KPIs. These datasets will serve as the foundation for analytics, reporting, and strategic decision-making across the organization.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work cooperatively with diverse teams, including Systems, Data Science, Product, Marketing, Finance, and Research. You'll understand their unique data needs and develop tailored solutions that empower them to achieve their objectives efficiently.
- System Implementation: Implement robust and fault-tolerant systems for data ingestion and processing. You'll design architectures that can gracefully handle failures, maintain data integrity, and scale seamlessly as our data volumes grow.
- Architecture and Engineering: Participate in data architecture and engineering decisions, bringing strong analytical thinking and innovative solutions to complex challenges. You'll evaluate emerging technologies and best practices to continuously improve our data infrastructure.
- Compliance and Security: Ensure the security, integrity, and compliance of all data assets in accordance with industry standards and company policies. You'll implement best practices for data governance, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you'll need a solid technical foundation and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. We're looking for candidates who demonstrate both technical proficiency and a passion for continuous learning.
Essential Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Programming Proficiency: Strong proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in Data Engineering, such as Python, Scala, or Java. You should be comfortable writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Distributed Processing Experience: Hands-on experience with distributed processing technologies and frameworks, including Hadoop, Flink, and distributed storage systems such as HDFS and S3. Understanding of distributed computing principles is essential.
- ETL and Scheduling Tools: Familiarity with ETL schedulers such as Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or similar frameworks. Experience designing and managing automated data workflows is highly valued.
- Spark Expertise: Strong understanding of Apache Spark and the ability to write, debug, and optimize Spark code for large-scale data processing tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant technical discipline
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and cloud-native data services
- Knowledge of real-time streaming data processing (Kafka, Kinesis, or similar)
- Familiarity with machine learning workflows and data preparation for AI models
- Experience in the AI or technology sector, particularly with large language models
