The Microsoft 365 End User Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting modern workplace technologies that directly impact employee productivity, security, and experience. This role focuses on Microsoft 365 services, endpoint management, identity, and collaboration platforms, ensuring a secure, reliable, and user‑friendly environment across devices and locations. The End User Engineer partners closely not only with the IT team but business teams to deliver scalable, standardized, and well‑documented solutions across Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, and endpoint platforms. This role emphasizes engineering and enablement, as well as focusing on end-user platforms, identity, and experience.
Annual Salary $125,000 per year (dependent on experience).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Modern Workplace & M365 Engineering
- Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive
- Configure and manage tenant‑level settings, licensing, retention, and collaboration policies
- Evaluate and implement new Microsoft 365 features to improve end‑user productivity and security
- Partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable M365 solutions
Endpoint & Device Management
- Engineer and support endpoint management using Microsoft Intune (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android)
- Implement Windows Autopilot, zero‑touch provisioning, patching, and application deployment
- Configure end user workstations for all new and outgoing staff
- Maintain device compliance, configuration profiles, and security baselines
- Support hybrid and cloud‑native endpoint scenarios as needed
Identity, Access & Security
- Administer Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) including users, groups, devices, and access models
- Design and maintain Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, and identity governance controls
- Partner with Security teams to support Zero Trust principles and endpoint protection
- Assist with security incident response related to identity or endpoint compromise
Automation, Documentation & Operations
- Automate common administrative and operational tasks using PowerShell
- Create and maintain runbooks, standards, SOPs, and knowledge base documentation
- Support service reliability, ticket escalations, and root‑cause analysis
- Collaborate with Service Desk to shift repeatable work left through automation and documentation
Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as a technical partner to IT, Security, and Business teams
- Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences
- Participate in projects, pilots, and platform migrations impacting end users
- Champion a consistent, high‑quality end‑user experience across the organization
Essential Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems or 12+ years of direct hands-on experience in IT Network and Systems Engineering.
Technical Skills
- Senior‑level experience in systems and network engineering roles.
- Deep expertise with:
- Microsoft 365 / Entra ID
- Network security, firewalls, VPNs, and connectivity
- Endpoint and identity management
- Experience operating production systems in cloud and hybrid environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills across infrastructure layers.
Security & Compliance
- Experience supporting environments subject to SOC 2 or similar frameworks.
- Strong understanding of secure system design and audit expectations.
- Ability to clearly explain technical controls to auditors and leadership.
Professional Skills
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to operate calmly during incidents and outages.
- Comfortable partnering with executives, service desk, security, and vendors.
- Pragmatic, risk‑aware mindset focused on stability and resilience.
- Experience in healthcare, EAP, or other regulated industries.
- Familiarity with ITSM tools and service desk operations.
- Background in security engineering or compliance‑driven environments.
Working Environment
