Position Overview
As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be responsible for applying highly complex advanced data science, predictive analytics, and machine learning methodologies to provide strategic insights and actionable recommendations. You will serve as a key analytical resource, offering consulting support for program improvement and cross-functional initiatives across the organization. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and communication skills to effectively partner with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities that leverage your technical expertise and business insight:
- Model Development & Innovation: Build models and tools using technical expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, probability and decision theory, and other quantitative methods. Innovate by adapting to new modeling techniques and procedures, staying current with emerging industry trends and best practices.
- Business Insight Generation: Understand the business reality behind massive sets of data and develop meaningful analytic solutions that address real-world business challenges. Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.
- Advanced Statistical Analysis: Apply analytical rigor and statistical techniques to analyze large volumes of data using advanced statistical methods including predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design, analysis, and data mining. Build recommendation and optimization algorithmic designs, perform data retrieval, complexity analysis, and scientific computing.
- Programming & Technical Development: Program using our tech stack including Python, PySpark, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other relevant libraries and frameworks. Develop efficient, scalable, and maintainable code that meets enterprise standards.
- Machine Learning Implementation: Perform machine learning techniques, including supervised and unsupervised algorithms to build predictive models and prescriptive solutions that support diverse business use cases across the organization.
- Algorithm Development: Build algorithms including decision trees, regression, XGBoost, K-means, and anomaly detection. Apply interpretable ML and Bayesian theory to develop robust, explainable models that stakeholders can trust and act upon.
- Cloud Computing & Data Platforms: Utilize Cloud Computing on Azure/Databricks and query data in Snowflake. Leverage cloud-native tools and services to build scalable data pipelines and machine learning workflows.
- Software Engineering Practices: Utilize software tools and methodologies including GitHub, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), and agile methodologies to ensure efficient and reliable delivery of data science solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with finance, researchers, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and provide analytical support. Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders across multiple departments.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Communicate verbally and in writing to business clients and management teams with diverse levels of technical expertise, educating them about our systems and sharing insights and recommendations that drive business value.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of experience in data science, machine learning, quantitative or computational fields; OR High School/GED and a minimum of seven years of experience in data science, machine learning, quantitative or computational capabilities.
- Advanced Degree: M.S. in STEM, Computer Science, Statistics Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or similar technical discipline.
- Machine Learning Expertise: At least four years of experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to create/optimize machine learning, predictive, forecasting, and/or optimization models.
- Programming Proficiency: Advanced experience in SQL, Python, PySpark, or other programming languages commonly used in data science and machine learning applications.
- Statistical Analysis Skills: Advanced level proficiency in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and selection, detecting patterns, analyzing distributions, visualizing results, and extracting insights to help businesses make informed data-driven decisions.
- Decision Tree & Classification Experience: Experience using decision trees and building classifiers for various business applications.
- Supervised Learning Techniques: Experience with supervised learning techniques including linear and logistic regression, time series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, support vector machines, and related methods.
- Unsupervised Learning Techniques: Experience with unsupervised learning techniques including K-means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, and principal components analysis.
- Cloud & Distributed Computing: Experience with Cloud ML systems, distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data stores, and serving engines.
- Experimental Design: Experience designing and analyzing A/B experiments to measure the impact of changes and inform product decisions.
- Technical Communication: Advanced level proficiency in conveying rigorous technical standards and issues to non-technical audiences, making complex concepts accessible to diverse stakeholders.
- Dynamic Environment Experience: Experience working in dynamic environments and operating with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results under tight deadlines.
- Stakeholder Communication: Experience effectively communicating technical solutions and advocating to research scientists, engineering teams, and business audiences with varying levels of technical sophistication.
- Business Acumen: At least two years of experience contributing to financial decisions within the workplace, understanding the business impact of analytical recommendations.
- Leadership Capabilities: At least two years of direct management, indirect management, and/or cross-functional team management experience.
- Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to at least 10% of the time for business purposes (both domestic and international).
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:
- Ph.D. in STEM, Computer Science, Statistics Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or similar technical discipline.
- Experience working with IoT (Internet of Things) and Edge AI technologies.
- Experience in Reinforcement Learning applications.
- Experience in the Healthcare industry, particularly with clinical data, patient outcomes, or healthcare operations.
