Role Overview: Manager – Data Science
We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Manager – Data Science to join our Decision Science team within the Credit and Fraud Risk organization at arenaflex. This is a pivotal role where you will act as a critical member of a team that is responsible for managing enterprise risks throughout the customer lifecycle across our consumer and business networks, and across all of our global products.
As a Manager in Decision Science at arenaflex, you will be a thought leader and problem solver who can blend business, technical, and industry best practices in developing the analyses, models, and algorithms that power our customers' digital experiences. You will have the opportunity to work with massive amounts of digital data (Web, Application, API) and modern tools in an industry-leading Big Data environment. This role offers the unique chance to build NLP-driven solutions from identifying business problems, to gathering training datasets, to analyzing data, to modeling, to validating, and to deploying NLP models that make a real difference.
Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Manager – Data Science at arenaflex will include:
- Data Analysis and Processing: Work with large amounts of digital data (Web, Application, API) and modern tools in an industry-leading Big Data environment to extract meaningful insights.
- NLP Solutions Development: Build NLP-driven solutions from identifying business problems, to gathering training datasets, to analyzing data, to modeling, to validating, and to deploying NLP models.
- Machine Learning Model Building: Build everything from basic reports to advanced machine learning models and algorithms to drive improvements to our customer's online and mobile application experiences.
- Product Enhancement: Work with product owners to transform product and content design with a data-driven approach, ensuring optimal user experiences.
- Technical Collaboration: Collaborate with technology partners to test, implement, and deploy modeling solutions for production systems.
- Behavioral Insights: Form insights into customer behavior and introduce new strategies to transform complex behavioral data into actionable information.
- Decision Optimization: Leverage the power of closed-loop optimization through arenaflex's organization to make decisions smarter and more relevant.
- Innovation and Improvement: Continuously improve with a focus on developing newer and better approaches using big data and machine learning solutions.
- Model Development: Develop, deploy, and validate predictive models using industry-leading modeling and AI practices to predict customer behavior.
- Financial Logic Integration: Support the use of models in financial logic to enable efficient decisions across credit, fraud, marketing, and servicing optimization engines.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:
- Educational Background: Master's/PhD degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, or a related discipline.
- Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience using advanced analytical and machine learning techniques, with particular focus on deep learning and supporting algorithms.
- NLP Specialization: PhD degree with practical experiences in NLP is a significant plus.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in analytical languages such as Python, R, or similar, and experience with databases such as Hive, SQL, or similar. Knowledge of SAS is a plus but not required.
- Machine Learning Knowledge: Deep understanding of machine learning/statistical algorithms including deep learning and supporting methodologies.
- Data Visualization: Experience with data visualization tools is a plus.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated ability to approach business problems and convert them into mathematical programming problems, leverage outside thinking and tools (from academia and/or other industries) to design solutions, and deliver business insights.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Self-Motivation: Independent thinker who is organized, has great attention to detail, and can multitask effectively.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to present complex findings to diverse stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Ability to learn quickly and work independently with complex, unstructured initiatives.
- Global Collaboration: Ability to coordinate with cross-functional colleagues worldwide.
- Presentation Tools: Proficient in presentation tools, including Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
While the following are not mandatory, they would be advantageous:
- Experience in the financial services industry, particularly in credit risk or fraud detection.
- Published research or contributions to academic journals in machine learning, NLP, or related fields.
- Experience with cloud platforms and distributed computing frameworks.
- Knowledge of real-time streaming data processing and analytics.
- Experience with model deployment and monitoring in production environments.

Compensation and Benefits
