Our client, a rapidly growing technology firm, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join their finance department in a fully remote capacity. This pivotal role will be responsible for a wide range of complex accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. You will play a key part in month-end and year-end close processes, financial statement preparation, general ledger management, and account reconciliations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and have experience with financial reporting. You will work closely with internal teams, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial planning & analysis, to provide accurate financial insights. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a remote work environment. You must be proficient in accounting software and advanced Excel skills. Proactive problem-solving and the ability to identify and implement process improvements are highly valued. Responsibilities: Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all deadlines are met. Prepare and review accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Conduct detailed variance analysis and provide explanations for significant fluctuations. Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts. Process journal entries, accruals, and other accounting transactions. Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance. Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting operations and implement solutions. Stay current with accounting standards, regulations, and best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial data requirements. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA designation strongly preferred. 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on general ledger accounting and financial reporting. Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and financial accounting principles. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in a technology or fast-paced growth environment is a plus. Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
