Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Plan B Climatech is focused on innovative solutions for climate control, and they are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design cooling infrastructure for data centers. The role involves running thermal modeling, owning mechanical specifications, and collaborating with various teams to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Design cooling infrastructure — CRAH/CRAC systems, liquid cooling loops, containment strategies — from concept through commissioning
- Run thermal modeling and CFD analysis to validate airflow, hot/cold aisle performance, and rack-level heat loads
- Own mechanical specs for chillers, pumps, piping, and heat exchangers at scale
- Partner with electrical, controls, and facilities teams to hit PUE and uptime targets
- Review vendor designs and field installations to catch problems before they become outages
- Mentor junior engineers without slowing your own pace
Skills
- 7+ years in mechanical design for data centers, HVAC, or critical facilities
- Strong grip on thermal/fluid dynamics, CFD tools (6SigmaDC, FloVent, or similar), and CAD (SolidWorks/Revit/AutoCAD)
- Working knowledge of ASHRAE guidelines and mechanical codes
- The instinct to flag a design flaw before it costs uptime, not after
- Experience with liquid cooling (direct-to-chip, immersion) is a strong plus
Benefits
- Competitive salary + equity
- Remote-first culture that actually means it
