Direct Recruiters, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of industrial automation and capital equipment, and they are seeking a customer-focused Mechanical Applications Engineer to support engineering projects across North America. This remote position involves developing mechanical designs and collaborating with sales and project management to create custom-engineered solutions for industrial equipment.
Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical designs and application solutions for customer-specific industrial equipment projects
- Collaborate with sales, project management, and customers to define project requirements and recommend technical solutions
- Visit customer facilities (25-50% travel) to evaluate existing equipment and gather design requirements
- Create 3D models, manufacturing drawings, layouts, and technical documentation using CAD software
- Support equipment integration, installation planning, and project execution
- Coordinate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and delivered on schedule
- Assist with troubleshooting and support during project implementation when needed
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality documentation and communication
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
- 8+ years of mechanical engineering, applications engineering, or machine design experience
- Strong proficiency with Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD software
- Experience designing or integrating industrial equipment, automation systems, or manufacturing machinery
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional teams
- Strong organizational and project management abilities
- Comfortable traveling up to 50% throughout North America
