Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The UW School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a Financial Analyst I to join the Contracts and Finance department. This role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, monitoring, and forecasting financial data to ensure proper stewardship of financial resources, while also serving as a primary contact for departmental leadership on finance-related matters.
Responsibilities
- Uses statistical analysis, simulations, predictive modeling, or other methods to analyze information and develop solutions to business problems
- Participates in development, maintenance, and monitoring of automated financial information systems and budgets, and disseminates updates and results to leadership when appropriate
- Participates in the development and implementation of financial processes throughout the department; including the development and provision of training and instructions, timelines, reports, and recommendations for improvement
- Prepares reports, spreadsheets, and schedules with compiled financial data
- Processes general ledger entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Performs general ledger reconciliations and complex general ledger account analysis
Skills
- At least 1 year of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting, including experience in data gathering, financial modeling, and forecasting
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to learn and adapt to new financial systems and tools
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze data and develop reports
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy in financial analysis and reporting
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively
- Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams
- Bachelors Degree Required
- Experience in higher education, government, or complex organizational finance environments
- Experience working with financial planning and analysis software (preferably, Planful or similar tools), and ERP systems such as Workday, PeopleSoft, SAP, or similar platforms
