Our client is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Remote Environmental Geologist to join their expert team, working entirely from home. This position is integral to assessing and managing environmental impacts related to mining operations and site remediation projects. You will be responsible for conducting detailed geological surveys, analyzing subsurface data, and developing comprehensive environmental assessments and remediation plans. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of hydrogeology, soil mechanics, and environmental regulations pertaining to mining activities. You will utilize advanced geological software and modeling tools to interpret complex data sets and provide expert recommendations. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, excellent report-writing skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Collaboration with project managers and other environmental specialists will occur virtually. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential for success in this remote-first position. Key responsibilities include: Responsibilities: Conduct geological assessments and site investigations for mining-related environmental projects. Analyze subsurface soil and groundwater data to identify potential contamination and risks. Develop conceptual site models and fate and transport analyses. Design and oversee the implementation of environmental monitoring programs. Prepare detailed technical reports, including geological interpretations, risk assessments, and remediation strategies. Utilize geological modeling software (e.g., GMS, ArcGIS, Leapfrog) for data visualization and analysis. Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and permitting requirements. Collaborate virtually with project managers, engineers, and clients to present findings and recommendations. Provide expert technical guidance on geological aspects of environmental projects. Stay current with advancements in geological science and environmental remediation technologies. Qualifications: Master's degree in Geology, Environmental Geology, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive experience in environmental geology, with a focus on mining and remediation projects. Strong knowledge of hydrogeology, soil science, and environmental fate and transport processes. Proficiency with geological modeling and GIS software. Excellent technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Experience with environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA) is essential. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote setting. Professional Geologist (PG) or equivalent licensure preferred.
