Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Fact Base Inc. is a high-growth, global B2B SaaS startup driving digital transformation in the manufacturing industry. As the U.S. Engineering Lead, you will own the architectural foundation and organization that drives the company's U.S. expansion, building a compliant backend and scaling the engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Build the Compliant Backend from Scratch : Design, build, and operate the infrastructure, security posture, and compliance program (ITAR / FedRAMP / CMMC) for the new product
- Execute with Parity : Faithfully port ZUMEN’s validated drawing-data workflows into the compliant U.S. architecture based on specs from the Japan product team
- Lead & Scale U.S. Engineering : Hire, mentor, and establish a high-performing U.S. engineering team focused on long-term product evolution and technical knowledge retention
- Bridge HQ and the U.S. Market : Act as the technical counterpart to Japan HQ, ensuring seamless communication, execution of specs, and structured feedback loops
- Customer-Facing Technical Discovery : Partner with U.S. defense primes and Tier-1/2 suppliers to identify security requirements and deployment constraints
Skills
- U.S. Person: U.S. citizen or permanent resident (required for ITAR compliance)
- Hands-on Engineering Background: 5+ years of experience in backend, infrastructure, or security engineering, with deep expertise in AWS environments
- Compliance Leadership: 3+ years of experience personally leading or co-owning compliance programs within ITAR, FedRAMP, or CMMC-regulated SaaS environments
- Execution-Focused Leader: A proven track record of shipping highly secure infrastructure against defined product specs within a global/satellite org structure
- Long-Term Commitment: Desire to grow with the company long-term, building and retaining critical technical knowledge within the team
- Based in or able to easily travel to our Chicago office (while the role is remote-first, proximity to the Chicago hub for regular collaboration is a strong plus)
- Prior experience collaborating with a Japanese or East Asian headquarters
- Software experience within manufacturing, industrial tech, or the U.S. defense/aerospace ecosystem
