Johns Hopkins Health Plans is a leader in provider-sponsored health plans, seeking an Actuarial Analyst to analyze health care data and collaborate with various departments. The role involves building actuarial models and supporting strategic decisions through data insights.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve, summarize and analyze financial and healthcare data
- Build actuarial models to support multiple lines of business, teams, and initiatives, develop financial projections that impact strategic decisions and plan management
- Support analysis around quality improvement, clinical program evaluation, forecasting, population health, provider incentives, ROI analyses, and ad hoc requests
- Incorporate the use of data visualization software to help audience absorb data and identify emerging trends
Skills
- 0-5 years' work experience
- Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science or related field
- Knowledge of financial and accounting concepts as well as an extensive knowledge of spreadsheets and database software
- Strong technical skills in using Microsoft Office products
- U.S. citizenship is required for this position as it falls under the terms of a government contract, to ensure compliance with DODPSP
- Completion of 1+ actuarial exams preferred, but not required
- Programming skills in SQL, or R
- Experience using PowerBI
- Advanced Excel ability including writing VBA macros
- Basic understanding of health insurance
