The Payroll Specialist will provide administrative support for payroll functions, ensuring legal compliance, accurate data entry, and timely payroll processing while delivering superior customer service to employees.
Responsibilities
- Process and administer weekly hourly payroll, including data entry, adjustments, and audits for accuracy
- Coordinate with managers to ensure timely and accurate collection of time and payroll data
- Maintain employee records (new hires, terminations, rate changes) and ensure payroll compliance
- Address payroll inquiries, including unionized employee matters, and resolve discrepancies
- Calculate gross-to-net payments, vacation accruals, and manage Record of Employment (ROE) issuance
- Ensure compliance with CRA, Employment Standards, and Workers’ Compensation requirements
- Support year-end processes (T4s, reconciliations) and provide ongoing technical support to employees
- Assist with administrative duties such as filing and shredding
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with PCP or CPM certification (Canadian Payroll Association)
- 1–3 years of full-cycle payroll experience in a multi-province environment (ON, BC, QC)
- Knowledge of payroll compliance, accounting, and payroll software (JDE an asset)
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle confidential information
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficient in MS Office
