Responsibilities
- Operate a cash register, cash counting machine and calculator
- Record information into computerized recordkeeping or accounting systems
- Compile information and data for documents, records and/or reports
- Answer questions posed by judges, the public, clients, customers, complainants, co-workers, subordinates, stakeholders and/or supervisors
- Modify and/or update records or case-related information
- Verify records for accuracy, completeness, or conformity
- Check inputs or outputs of data processing for accuracy
- Collect and/or record fees or costs as directed by the court
- Verify authenticity or validity of documents
- Modify and/or update cash transactions, records or journals
- Review clients or customer records
- Verify requisitions, vouchers, bank statements or financial transactions
- Summarize account information or transaction details
- Perform other related duties as assigned

- One year of permanent service as of the announced closing date in the following career (classified) titles: Judiciary Clerk 2, Judiciary Clerk 2 Bilingual, Judiciary Account Clerk 1, Judiciary Account Clerk 1 Bilingual, Judiciary Account Clerk 2, Judiciary Account Clerk 2 Bilingual, Judiciary Clerk 3, Judiciary Clerk 3 Bilingual
- Eligibility is based upon the applicants having achieved all the competencies for advancement to Judiciary Clerk 3 as listed on the Career Progression Eligibility Form for this title
- One year of experience performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following: document or information processing, handling payments for fees, recording monies received, reconciling balances or accounts and/or scheduling meetings or appointments
- Ability to use a keyboard, no minimum speed
- Candidates selected to serve in a bilingual variant title must pass the New Jersey Civil Service Commission Bilingual Communicative Ability Test (BICAT) performance examination or provide proof of having established bilingual proficiency with the New Jersey Civil Service Commission
- For some positions, applicants must have the ability to perform work which requires climbing and prolonged standing, stretching, bending and reaching to perform the essential duties of the position
- For some positions, the selected candidate must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds and, occasionally, materials weighing up to 75 pounds, in order to perform essential duties of the position
- Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position
- Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations
- Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting
- In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the 'New Jersey First Act,' all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey
