Position Overview
We are currently recruiting for multiple levels of Data Architects and Engineers to support our growing Dataworks initiative. These roles offer the opportunity to work on enterprise-scale data platforms, build robust pipelines, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-value data solutions.
Our Dataworks platform manages the end-to-end data lifecycle—from ingestion to transformation to delivery to end users and downstream systems. You'll be responsible for building tools, platforms, and pipelines that enable teams to analyze data, build models, and drive informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of the arenaflex Dataworks team, you will:
- Design and develop data pipelines at massive scale, ensuring efficient ingestion and processing of data from multiple sources
- Build tools and platforms that empower teams to analyze data cleanly and systematically, enabling them to build models and drive data-informed decisions
- Scale solutions from individual contributor level to team-scale operations, addressing both infrastructure and problem-solving challenges
- Collaborate across teams to generate data-driven operational insights that lead to high-value, improved solutions
- Deliver tangible value quickly while working with diverse teams across different backgrounds and disciplines
- Establish best practices for future reuse, creating reusable patterns, templates, and codebases
- Engage with senior technologists across the enterprise and external partners to create synergies and ensure smooth integration with downstream systems
- Maintain and optimize existing data environments and pipelines, investigating performance issues and providing Level 3 support
- Implement parsers, validators, transformers, and correlators to reformat, update, and enhance data quality
- Mentor junior team members and provide guidance to those in less senior positions
- Lead data analysis, lineage studies, and initiatives to document and enhance data quality and accessibility
Essential Qualifications
For Data Architect I:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Engineering, or related field)
- One (1) year of equivalent formal training or work experience in data engineering
- Basic knowledge of data engineering and AI frameworks, including design, development, and implementation of complex systems and data pipelines
- Fundamental understanding of database systems, including design and development of large batch or online transaction-based systems
- Experience as a contributing member of multi-functional project teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
For Data Architect II:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent
- Two (2) years of equivalent work experience in measurement and analysis, quantitative business problem-solving, simulation development, and/or predictive analytics
- Strong knowledge of data engineering and AI frameworks including design, development, and implementation of highly complex systems and data pipelines
- Strong knowledge of database systems including design, development, and implementation of large batch or online transaction-based systems
- Solid understanding of the transportation/logistics industry, competitors, and emerging technologies
- Experience as a contributing member of multi-functional project teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
For Data Architect III:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a quantitative discipline
- Three to Four (3-4) years of equivalent work experience in measurement and analysis, quantitative business problem-solving, simulation development, and/or predictive analytics
- Extensive knowledge of data engineering and AI frameworks including design, development, and implementation of highly complex systems and data pipelines
- Extensive knowledge of database systems including design, development, and implementation of large batch or online transaction-based systems
- Strong understanding of the transportation/logistics industry, competitors, and emerging technologies
- Experience providing leadership in a training or consulting setting
- Experience as a senior member of multi-functional project teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
For Data Architect Lead:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a quantitative discipline
- Five to Seven (5-7) years of equivalent work experience in measurement and analysis, quantitative business problem-solving, simulation development, and/or predictive analytics
- Extensive knowledge of data engineering and AI frameworks including design, development, and implementation of highly complex systems and data pipelines
- Extensive knowledge of database systems including design, development, and implementation of large batch or online transaction-based systems
- Strong understanding of the transportation/logistics industry, competitors, and emerging technologies
- Experience providing leadership in a training or consulting setting
- Experience as a leader or senior member of multi-capability project teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills and Technical Expertise
We are looking for candidates with strong technical backgrounds in:
- Cloud Platforms: Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure tooling for large-scale data engineering projects, including Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Synapse Analytics
- Distributed Systems: Familiarity with distributed and cloud environments, with a deep understanding of optimizing computational considerations
- Programming Languages: Strong development skills in Scala (including PySpark), Java, and Python
- Data Processing Tools: Experience with Kafka and other high-volume data tools
- Database Technologies: Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL storage tools such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and CosmosDB
- Data Formats: Experience with various data types including JSON, XML, Parquet, Avro, and unstructured data for both batch and streaming ingestion
- Streaming Technologies: Ability to create and operationalize capabilities including near-real-time high-volume streaming scenarios
- Containerization: Experience with Azure Kubernetes Services, Event Hubs, or related technologies for streaming implementations
- DevOps Practices: Knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices for enterprise and software management, including CI/CD pipelines
- Version Control: Comfort with distributed teams on code-based deliverables, using version control systems and code reviews
- Infrastructure as Code: Working knowledge of Terraform for creating and deploying resources
- Monitoring and Alerting: Experience developing and implementing alerting and monitoring strategies
- API Integration: Data integration through APIs and/or REST services
- Analytics Tools: PowerPlatform experience (PowerBI, PowerApp, PowerAutomate) is a plus

Compensation and Benefits
arenaflex offers competitive compensation packages that reflect your experience, skills, and the value you bring to our team. For this role, the estimated monthly salary range is $6,317.00 - $15,477.00, depending on experience level and qualifications. Factors that may influence your actual compensation include skills, relevant experience, and geographic location.

This position can be domiciled anywhere in the United States. arenaflex supports remote work arrangements and has offices across the country to serve as collaborative hubs for our distributed teams.
