Position Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Product Improvement Director to lead our full-stack engineering efforts for a strategic initiative within the arenaflex Smart Home division. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape the future of connected device technology and help bridge the gap between traditional appliances and the Internet of Things.
As the Product Improvement Director, you will be responsible for leading and developing a cross-functional engineering team spanning hardware, firmware, APIs, SDKs, applications, and program management. You will work closely with Product Managers, senior leadership, and engineering teams to define and execute the technical vision for our innovative IoT solutions. This position requires a strategic thinker who can balance technical excellence with business objectives while delivering solutions that improve manufacturing processes for IoT device creators.

Key Responsibilities
As a key member of the arenaflex leadership team, you will be entrusted with significant responsibilities that drive our IoT initiatives forward:
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead and nurture a dynamic full-stack engineering team including Quality Assurance Specialists and Support Engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Technical Vision & Strategy: Collaborate with Product Managers, senior executives, and engineering teams to develop the technical vision and execution roadmap for our IoT device platform.
- Full-Stack Engineering Oversight: Oversee hardware, firmware, API, SDK, and application development to ensure cohesive integration and exceptional product quality across all components.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside Business Development and directly with customers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions that meet market needs.
- Manufacturing Process Improvement: Design and deliver solutions that enhance manufacturing processes for IoT device creators, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Product Delivery Excellence: Ensure timely delivery of all product components while maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance.
- Stakeholder Communication: Interface with product and program supervisory teams to align engineering efforts with business objectives and customer expectations.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Engineering Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on engineering experience in software development, hardware engineering, or related technical fields.
- Team Management: At least 3 years of experience in managing and leading engineering teams, with a proven track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Multi-Level Web Services: 3+ years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-level web services architecture.
- Full Development Lifecycle: Comprehensive knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the complete software/hardware/networking development lifecycle, including:
- Coding standards and best practices
- Code review processes
- Source control management
- Build processes and CI/CD pipelines
- Testing and quality assurance methodologies
- Operations and live-site management
- Program Collaboration: Demonstrated experience working effectively with product or program supervisory teams to achieve shared objectives.
- System Design & Architecture: Proven experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including understanding of design patterns, reliability considerations, and scaling strategies.
- Technical Depth: Strong foundation in gadget firmware development, IoT device SDKs, or similar technical domains.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following additional experience will be strongly preferred:
- Client Communication: Experience effectively communicating with clients, other technical teams, and senior management to gather requirements, describe software product features, and present technical designs.
- Strategic Planning: Demonstrated ability to articulate product strategy and technical vision to diverse stakeholders.
- Talent Development: Proven experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing teams of programmers to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
- IoT Ecosystem Knowledge: Deep understanding of the IoT ecosystem, including device connectivity protocols, cloud integration, and edge computing concepts.
- Agile Methodologies: Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and modern DevOps practices.
