About Our Earn While You Learn Program
arenaflex is proud to invest in and champion an "earn while you learn" Pharmacy Technician training program that has been recognized by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the U.S. Department of Labor. This apprenticeship program offers you an entry point into the dynamic world of healthcare—guiding you through every step toward becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certified Pharmacy Technician.

Through our comprehensive pharmacy technician apprenticeship program, you'll gain both foundational knowledge and advanced skills. The courses, learning activities, and resources provided are designed to give you the practical on-the-job experience you need to become a licensed pharmacy technician. Upon completion of the arenaflex pharmacy technician apprenticeship program, you'll qualify for 8 university credit hours as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE). This coursework is recommended for 3 semester hours at the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category and 5 semester hours in the upper-division baccalaureate degree category—giving you a head start if you ever decide to pursue further education.
What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Technician at arenaflex, you'll play a vital role in supporting our pharmacy operations and delivering exceptional patient care. Here's what you can expect:
- Patient Interaction: Be the front and center of our patient experience—greeting customers, providing assistance with products and services, and resolving customer issues to ensure a positive shopping experience.
- Prescription Processing: Use our advanced pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions accurately, and ensure all information is entered correctly into our database.
- Medication Preparation: Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, retrieve, count, and pour pharmaceutical tablets; verify medication accuracy; and check for possible drug interactions.
- Quality Assurance: Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company rules and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and quality improvement programs.
- Compliance: Follow all state, federal, and company policies and procedures, including maintaining compliance with the arenaflex Pharmacy Code of Conduct and strict adherence to good faith dispensing practices.
- Cash Register Operations: Handle register operations accurately, collect and manage cash as required, and assist customers in locating over-the-counter products.
- Insurance Claims: Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third-party prescription program services in a timely and efficient manner.
- Inventory Management: Support pharmacy department inventory activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing prescription drug shipments.
- Clinical Support: Assist pharmacists in administering medical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other medical services as required.
- Community Relationships: Assist Pharmacy Managers and Staff Pharmacists in developing and maintaining strong relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
What We're Looking For: Qualifications & Skills
Basic Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months or more of experience in a retail environment
- Previous work experience with arenaflex or similar pharmacy settings
- Strong math skills to accurately fill prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications
- Proficient computer skills for pharmacy system operations
- Knowledge of store inventory control procedures
- PTCB certification (or willingness to earn certification through our program)
- Previous customer service experience in a retail or healthcare setting
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members
