Position Overview
We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Big Data Engineer to join our dynamic analytics team in a fully remote capacity. Key Responsibilities
As a Big Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in shaping our data infrastructure and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with Business and Technical Teams: Work closely with utility teams, business analysts, and product owners to understand, define, and capture commercial enterprise needs. Translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable data solutions.
- Develop Voice of the Customer (VoC) Solutions: Grow your expertise in Voice of the Customer methodologies and leverage these insights to design and transform data within our cornerstone big data platform. Create meaningful customer sentiment analysis frameworks.
- Design Data Architecture: Layout and build robust data model architectures to support optimal data processing and standardized metric definitions. Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of all data systems.
- Implement Big Data Solutions: Develop big data and batch/real-time analytical solutions using transformational technologies including Hadoop, HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Spark, and Python. Deliver innovative solutions that ensure data quality and accuracy through intensive testing at variable and use case levels.
- Optimize System Performance: Offer pointers to enhance competencies and drive efficiency in computing programs using the massive data ecosystem. Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve overall system performance.
- Consumer Tale Analysis: Power consumer story analysis and elaboration, design and development of software programs, testing, and build automation tools that streamline operations.
- Automate Processes: Proactively identify and automate manual tasks to improve quality and efficiency. Reduce operational overhead through intelligent automation.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Work carefully with partners from various business units to prioritize, define, increase, and test data for various use cases as part of the Voice of the Customer end-to-end process.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Technical Expertise: Hands-on development experience with Hive/Hadoop, PySpark, Python, and Shell Scripting languages. Proficiency in development launch management and troubleshooting for data-driven projects.
- Experience Level: A minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in big data engineering or a related technical field.
- Collaborative Skills: Strong ability to collaborate effectively with relationship managers and product owners to understand functional requirements and convert them into technical deliverables.
- Agile Methodology: Familiarity with Agile methodologies of delivery, with experience working in environments where small increments of product are introduced at regular intervals to business groups.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues and deliver effective solutions.
Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Knowledge of real-time streaming technologies like Kafka or Flink
