About This Position:
DOTD Police is responsible for enforcing all federal and state regulations related to vehicle size, weight, permits, registration, and taxation to ensure roadway safety and protect infrastructure. The position requires a POST-certified police officer (or certification within one year), a valid driver’s license, and successful completion of a physical exam and drug screen. Candidates with felony convictions or pending felony charges are disqualified unless legal relief is granted. Employees must also comply with background checks, physical fitness testing, polygraph, and other required exams, along with all applicable laws and DOTD policies.
While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Services laws, rules and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.No experience or training is required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
