The Federation of American Scientists (FAS) is seeking a Strategy Associate to join its Strategy and Engagement team. This entry-level role focuses on supporting the organization’s strategy and planning processes, as well as providing administrative support to the board of directors and the Strategy team.
Responsibilities
- Fielding new business opportunities, completing next actions in coordination with various internal stakeholders, and scheduling and documenting actions in design sessions to create potential new programs and projects
- Communicating with teams on a quarterly basis to collect and enter program impact metrics, analyzing data and presenting findings to teams, and preparing post-meeting briefs with necessary action plans
- Supporting board member outreach, recruitment, onboarding, and transitions through preparing project plans, background documents, and internal and external communications
- Supporting board meetings by creating, communicating and managing internal project plans, preparing draft meeting materials, documenting action items during meetings, and communicating them to relevant stakeholders
- Providing logistical support for all Board of Director’s meetings and all internal strategy meetings
- Organizing team meeting agendas
- Preparing and processing new contracts and purchase orders according to FAS procurement procedures; interfacing with contractors, vendors, and the Operations Team to process invoices
- Supporting expense reimbursements for the Chief of Staff
Skills
- 1-2 years of experience working at a nonprofit organization or in consulting
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to define and drive action
- Strong organization and project management skills; a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently
- An ability to see beyond the task at hand to understand the bigger picture
- An ability to manage up and a familiarity with executive communication
- An interest in science and technology, and a curiosity about how sound policy can make a difference in people's lives
